To help you better
make the right decision for your family, here are a list of
questions that I am frequently asked.
|
Physical
appearance and attributes |
| Are
there any differences in the standard Australian shepherds
vs. the Miniature Australian Shepherd? |
Except for size,
they are the same in everyway. |
|
What colors do Mini Aussies come in?
|
Blue/Red Merles and
Black/Red Tri's or Bi's.
Please view this website for a
complete list of all the wonderful colors and variations
therein of Aussie's
Field Guide To Coloration of
Australian Shepherds |
| What
about Eye Color? |
Again, refer to the
website above for an amazing amount of info. |
| When
can you tell they'll have blue eyes? |
Most likely around
4 weeks; I have a pretty good indication...although, it
sometimes takes longer. |
|
What kind of coat does a Mini Aussie
have? |
Coats can range
from longer and silkier to fluffy and thick.
|
| Do
Mini Aussie's shed a lot? |
Aussie's are
average shedders and only need to be maintained by brushing.
No special maintenance is required. |
| How
big do Mini's get? |
Mini's range from
14" to 18". Toys are 13" and under.
|
|
Do you think
males or females make better pets? |
I know some
people live by their beliefs that males are better or
females are better.....but after raising mini's, both sexes
act the same and we have not noticed any significant
behavior differences. Both make wonderful companions. |
|
How are Mini's
around Children? Other dogs/cats? |
Mini's do well
around children and are great family pets. Aussie are
easily socialized to other pets as well. |
|
Do Mini's need
training? |
YES! All puppies
need to be trained obedience with consistency and love.
Aussies love to be involved in family activates and do best
with families that provide obedience training,,
socialization and exercise. Aussie's are naturally
reserved around strangers and will need to be properly
socialized early in their lives'. They are also
extremely loyal dogs; wanting to be near their master's side
than anyone else on the planet! Aussie are incredibly smart
and are easily trained to do anything! |
|
Does my puppy
come trained or housebroken? |
Now, this is a
favorite question of mine...I'm sure we would all like for
our pups to be perfectly trained when they arrive. Although,
the reality is that I'm a dog breeder, not a trainer.
It is up to you to train and house break your puppy.
The challenge of raising a puppy is hard, but well worth all
the amazing results in the end. |
|
Registry and Shipping Questions |
| Are
mini's AKC registered? |
No,
not at this time. All dogs here are
ASDR
registered. As soon to be Dual-Registered with
ARBA. |
| Does
my puppy come with papers? |
Yes,
either limited or full registration; but all puppies receive
papers. If you'd like full registration, please add
$200 to purchase price. |
| Do
you ship puppies? |
Yes,
all over the United States. Our preferred carrier is
Continental and/or Alaska Airlines. Both carriers have
temperature controlled cargo...so it is the same as being a
passenger. |
| How
much does it cost? |
Shipping ranges from $120-180 for the flight plus $20 crate
and a Health Certificate of $15. |
| Are
these costs included in the price of the puppy? |
No,
all shipping fees are the responsibility of the Buyer. |
| Do
you ship overseas ? |
No,
at this time, all shipping is limited to the United States. |
|
Ok, I'd like to

deposit is required to hold the puppy of your choice.
I allow one week (including weekends; seven days total) for
your deposit to arrive

deposit page for more info. |
|
Does my puppy

|
Yes,
all my pups come with a 6 month health guarantee.
Please see my
guarantee & contract page
for more info. |
|
How early can a
puppy be picked up or shipped?
|
Puppies can leave no earlier than 7 weeks and must be eight
weeks old to fly. All puppies must be picked by Nine
weeks; no exceptions. |
|
When do I have to pay for my puppy in
full?
|
All puppies MUST be paid in FULL by
SIX WEEKS. |
|
Can I get more pictures of the
parents?
|
Unfortunately, due to many
looky-loos; what I have on my website are the pictures
available. I take photography very seriously. I do,
however, update puppy pictures weekly.
I also encourage local buyers to
come and visit. Meet the parents in person. |
|
Can I come see your dogs and the
puppies?
|
Visitors are always welcomed by
appt. only. |
|
How many times a day should I
feed my puppy? |
This depends on how you are going
to house train your dog. |
| What
kind of toys should I buy? |
Don't buy toys that can easily break off and choke the
puppies. These usually include plastic cheapy toys.
The nylabones toys are nice; as
well as, ropes and balls well made. |
| Why
do I have to deworm him/her if they've already been dewormed? |
Puppies can EASILY get reinfested with worms just by playing
out in the yard. Worms are very common in puppies and
as long as you follow the deworming guildlines as set up by
your veterinarian, you and your new puppy should be just
fine. Puppies are also susceptible to Giardia
thru crowded public places; like beaches and dog parks. |
|
Do you have any recommendations on
house breaking or dog training? |
Yes, I highly recommend "The Monks
of New Skete, The Art of Raising a Puppy". I also can not
stress enough how important watching the "Dog Whisperer" is
on the National Geographic Channel.
Most, if not all, behavior issues
and problems are caused by humans...not the dogs. This
is a wonderful show that educates owners how to be the
perfect leader in their pet's lives. |
